There has been quite a bit of concern and confusion about the proposed water rate increases in our Waterworks District (WWD) 38 in the last couple of months.  Enough people voiced their concern through protest letters to Ventura County officials that prompted a revaluation of their cost modeling methods. The previously scheduled 1.10.2017 public hearing before the Ventura County Board of Supervisors has been rescheduled for 2.7.2017 at 11:30am.

Use the example below to calculate the changes to your own future bill...

It is important to calculate your own bill increase/decrease using the Bill Calculator and voice your opinion using the Report a Concern page!  Once you have the "new" dollar amount from the Bill Calculator page, use the below example if you need some help calculating the % increase from your previous bill.

Example using the Bill Calculator:

oba = Old Bill Amount total (from your existing W & S Dept bill)
nba = New Bill Amount total (from the Bill Calculator  ** already includes Service Charge for Meter Size)
hcf = Hundred Cubic Feet usage (from your existing W & S Dept bill)
chg = Change in dollars (difference) between nba and oba

and assuming...

Customer Class = Residential
Meter Size = 3/4"

oba = $55.55
hcf  = 14
nba = $78.59  (output from the Bill Calculator)

** NOTE ** the following formula assumes that your nba is greater than your oba.  If not STOP and contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. because we are looking for ANY person in our WWD 38 that would experience a decrease in their bill after the proposed changes.  So far, we have not heard of any...

( (nba - oba) / oba ) * 100 = % dollar increase

($78.59 - $55.55) / $55.55) = .4147

(.4147 * 100) = 41.5% dollar increase
